Jecta has the effectiveness of Bora-Care in a gel form for sealed or hard-to-reach wood.

Jecta is a ready-to-use injectable borate gel used by pest management professionals to protect sealed or inaccessible wood from termites and other wood-destroying organisms. It is typically used to reach places where Bora-Care cannot be applied effectively. Jecta's patented carrier system facilitates rapid penetration throughout wood of any moisture content. Jecta comes in 10 oz tubes that are loaded into a common caulking gun style applicator, making application convenient and easy. For those who are concerned about using "green" products, Jecta is formulated with a concern for the environment and has low mammalian toxicity - less than half that of table salt, yet because of how it works, it's still deadly to decay fungi and insect pests.

Jecta is a termiticide, insecticide and fungicide that kills and controls:

  • Drywood termites
  • Subterranean termites
  • Formosan termites
  • Wood destroying beetles
  • Carpenter ants
  • Decay fungi

How Does Jecta Work?

The active ingredient in Jecta is the same as that in the liquid concentrate form of Bora-Care: a borate salt. Borate salts work by taking advantage of a unique feature in the biology of termites, ants and other insects. If ingested by ants, beetles or termites, the insect becomes unable to extract nutrition from its food and starves to death. And because of this unique mode of action, insects cannot develop a resistance, ever.

Jecta offers the same advantages that Bora-Care delivers and works differently than most other insecticides, termiticides and even other borate products on the market today. It is applied directly to wood rather than to the soil, but unlike Bora-Care, it is injected as opposed to sprayed, misted or foamed onto building materials. Jecta comes in a patented gel form allowing it to be applied to places that a Bora-Care liquid application cannot reach, such as sealed wood or extremely hard-to-reach areas. And also like Bora-Care, its unique patented blend of glycols in combination with the borate salt controls and prevents termites, wood decay fungi and wood destroying beetles. It is formulated with a concern for the environment and has no known resistance.

How Is Jecta Used?

Jecta can be injected through any wood surface coating and is designed for application to wood by injection into voids, checks, cracks, pre-drilled holes, or injection sleeves designed for this purpose. In order to facilitate re-application in high-risk areas, a plug of material such as cork, rubber, wood, caulk or an injection sleeve should be used to seal the injection site. The use of injection sleeves allows for easier, subsequent applications and also permits injection under pressure in order to increase the volume of Jecta applied per injection site.

Use Jecta in areas where Bora-Care cannot be applied effectively, and where wood decay or insects are present or in high-risk areas vulnerable to infestation. This includes wood that remains moist or is subject to frequent wetting, or wood in contact with the ground or soil. Examples include flooring and foundations systems; window and door framing and headers; exterior steps, porches and decks; roof trim and soffits; attics and roofing; porches and garages; fence posts, pilings and piers; log construction; utility poles and railroad ties.
