Hi, I’m Nicole with DoMyown.com. Today we’re going to talk about controlling mosquitoes around your property with ProCare Bifen 7.9 Insecticide Concentrate.

ProCare Bifen 7.9 is a versatile liquid insecticide that can be used both indoors and outdoors to control over 75 insect pests. It contains the active ingredient bifenthrin and provides long-lasting control of pests, including mosquitoes.

For residual control of mosquitoes around your property, start by mixing one fluid ounce of ProCare Bifen 7.9 Insecticide with one gallon of water in a hand-pump or backpack sprayer. You can also use a mist blower to apply your mosquito treatment. The 1 ounce rate will give you a quicker knockdown and longer residual control of mosquitoes. You can also use the low rate – 0.33 fl oz per gallon of water.

Now it’s time to apply our mosquito spray around our yard.

You want to apply one gallon of finished solution per 1,000 square feet as a general spray.

When it comes to where you want to apply your ProCare Bifen 7.9 spray, you are looking for areas where mosquitoes are found.

You may have noticed that mosquitos are more active in the cooler temperatures of the early morning and after the sun goes down. Because adult mosquitos hide out during the heat of the day, you want to make sure you are spraying those areas for the most effective treatment. This includes the undersides of the leaves on trees, shrubs, and bushes, in tall grasses, and under building overhangs including decks, porches, and eaves. You can also spray the outside surfaces of buildings, foundations, window frames, along fence lines, and other areas where mosquitos are found.

When spraying the foliage, you want to make sure to spray the underside of the leaves. By spraying the top only, your treatment will not be as effective.

You will need to retreat to maintain control of the mosquito population when there is heavy mosquito pressure or when you see signs of renewed mosquito activity. If you are using the high rate – the one ounce per gallon rate – you can reapply the ProCare Bifen 7.9 as a mosquito spray every four weeks. When using the low rate of 0.33 oz per gallon, you can reapply every seven days.

It's best to apply your mosquito treatments in the early mornings or late afternoon or evenings when its cooler outside and mosquitos are more active.

For the most effective control of mosquitoes, its best to apply ProCare Bifen 7.9 Insecticide as part of an integrated pest management approach. This includes taking steps around your yard and property to make it less inviting to mosquitoes.
